Apple Reportedly Blocking Out Employee Vacation Time This Month: ”
Only in the Apple world, can we get excited that others wont get time off. Sources that are familiar with Apples retail plans say that Apple has issued a ‘blackout’ period spanning three weeks, meaning retail employees without seniority will not be allowed to go on vacation. The timeframe is said to span from the last week of January and continue into the first half of February. New products on the way, perhaps?
Such a ‘blacking out’ of vacation time usually is a pretty good indicator of a forthcoming big product launch, like a new iPhone, say sources familiar with past retail blackouts. On the contrary though, the sources admit no specific knowledge of what Cupertino could have up their sleeves for this go around.
Another interesting retail tidbit, is that Apple is also said to have hung onto the majority of their overstaffed holiday personnel at many stores, even as the holiday shopping season has finished up.
One source familiar with Apples retail activities said that last month managers had become ‘reluctant’ to give employees time off for the whole month of January. It was only till recently that Apple started denying employee vacations during the reported timeframe. This is a direct violation of labor laws, based on the rules found here from Labor Law Compliance Center.
Regardless if we finally see that CDMA iPhone, the new iPad or even a MacBook Pro refresh, history tells us that the cold of January is only starting to heat up!
