Software Description
This software updates FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced to version 12.0v3.
Updater Details
Installation:
- OS X: If you’re installing FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced for the first time and you want to use AppleRemote Desktop to perform an automated installation, you must edit the Assisted Install.txt file to provide personalizedinformation, and then run the Apple Remote Desktop Deployment script to create a personalized .pkg file. For moreinformation, including where to access the script, see the FileMaker Pro 12 Network Install Setup Guide at http://www.filemaker.com/documentation.>
Windows: Added the parameter BrazilianPortuguese for the AI_LANGUAGE setting in the installer’s Assisted Install.txtfile.
Layout design and rendering:
- Addressed an issue where an object located beneath a transparent fill object could not be selected and dragged.
- Addressed an issue in the Classic theme where a gradient in the footer part was cropped when the zoom level wasgreater than 100%.
- Addressed an issue where a vertical or horizontal line set to a button would not appear.
- Addressed an issue for the Classic theme where an image that spans multiple parts, commonly used as a watermark,would fail to draw in all parts.
- Improvements in performance made to Layout mode when there is a large number of layout objects.
- Improvements in performance made to layout rendering when objects contained conditional formatting.
- Addressed an issue where FileMaker Pro may crash if a script containing the Go to Layout script step goes to a layoutwith a tab control located in the footer part.
- Windows: Improvements in performance made to zooming of windows that contained parts with sliced image fills.
Printing:
- Addressed an issue where fields set to display with one border showed the other borders as hairline width when printed.
- Addressed an issue where field contents in certain fonts were truncated when printed as PDF and the Inspector “Remove blank space by” option was set to “Sliding left.”
- Addressed an issue where empty portal rows could appear even when the Inspector “Remove blank space by” optionwas set to “Sliding up.”
- Improvements made to the printing quality of image thumbnails in container fields.
Plug-ins:
- Addressed an issue where Instant Web Publishing could crash after a period of use.
- Addressed an issue where the Install Plug-In File script step placed plug-ins in the same folder as earlier FileMaker Pro versions

- Addressed an issue where an interactive container would continue playing video or audio after the record it was locatedon had been deleted.
- Addressed an issue in the Classic theme where an image pasted into a container field set to “Reduce image to fit” waspasted smaller than necessary.
- Improvements made to the inserting of many files with the same filename into container fields with open storage.
Portals:
- Addressed an issue where the correct values for fields formatted as checkboxes or radio buttons were not shown when displayed in portals.
- Improvements in performance made to portal behavior when fields contained within them had conditional formatting applied.
Records:
- Updated year ranges for Japanese emperor date entry.
- Addressed an issue where FileMaker Pro was unable to create a PDF when the file included container fields with largeimages in them.
Miscellaneous:
- Addressed an issue where copying and pasting from Excel could lose the formatting.
- Improvements in performance made to the Manage Layouts dialog box when opening remote databases with many layouts.
- Addressed an issue where a trailing grand summary could display in the wrong location in Table View when fields hadbottom anchors enabled.
- OS X: Addressed an issue where files could not be created on WebDAV servers.

Installation instructions
To ensure a smooth installation, disable virus detection software before applying the update, and re-enable it after you are finished.
This update will require approximately 2.3 GB of free space on your hard disk.
- Quit FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced. Other applications can remain open.
- Double-click the appropriate FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced 12.0v3 updater program for the platform and product you are using.
- Read and accept the displayed license agreement, then proceed as directed.
- Click Update to update your software. After the update has completed, you will see a message confirming the successful installation of the new version.
- Quit the updater and open the new version of FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced to verify that the update was successful.
OS X: The version information may not be updated until the next time you log in or restart.
If the update does not complete successfully, try the following:
OS X:
- Create backup copies of any files you saved in the FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced application folder.
- Remove FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced.
- Install FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced version 12.0v1 or 12.0v2 using your original installation program.
- Run the updater program again.
Windows:
- Create backup copies of any files you saved in the FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced application folder.
- Use the Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8) control panel to remove FileMaker Pro 12 or FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced.
- Install FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced version 12.0v1 or 12.0v2 using your original installation program.
- Run the updater program again.
If, after following the steps above, you are still unable to successfully update to FileMaker Pro 12.0v3 or FileMaker Pro 12.0v3 Advanced, contact FileMaker Customer Support for assistance.
