FileMaker Go for iPad and iPhone, the low code app workplace innovation platform is enjoying ongoing popularity for its ease and speed in creating custom mobile apps using.

FileMaker, Inc. has said that its FileMaker Go app for iPad and iPhone has reached 4 million downloads from the iTunes App Store. This milestone is a testament to the enduring success and popularity of FileMaker – and they say it underscores the company’s commitment to helping organizations of all sizes work better, solve problems and innovate.

FileMaker Go is a free app that runs FileMaker-based custom apps on iPad and iPhone. Forty-three percent of U.S. employees now work remotely at least some of the time, according to a 2017 Gallup Report, so organizations need a tool that can be flexible and fit their specific needs. FileMaker’s Workplace Innovation Platform empowers users to create, share and integrate custom apps with the mobile capabilities required of today’s workplace trends.

This latest achievement was buoyed by the recent release of the FileMaker 17 Platform. Organizations of all sizes, from start-ups to Fortune 500 firms, use the FileMaker Platform to create custom apps that solve their unique challenges and meet their business goals. The FileMaker 17 Platform release focuses on innovative updates for mobility and development to make custom apps even more versatile. Apps can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud.

Apple subsidiary FileMaker and global digital creative production company MediaMonks worked together to give a humorous spin on why you should use the workplace innovation platform.

The ‘Innovation Without the Hype’ campaign features six short films that underscore how the FileMaker ecosystem of training, support, and outsourcing can empower innovation in the workplace.

In the films, two main characters carry the stories: the Extreme Innovator and the Problem Solver. Both are in a pitch-off, presenting ideas for executives’ consideration in a series of board room scenarios.

In ‘Whale Music,’ a man-bunned executive interrupts the woman explaining FileMaker as a great solution with whale noises, stating that’s how the world’s biggest mammals communicate with their teams over long distances, which prompts others to do their own whale sounds.

The same Extreme Innovator suggests in another spot that body language is the universal way to communicate and leads the rest of the boardroom in ridiculous poses. In ‘Yoga Balls’ the Innovator says rather than balance the budgets with squeaky yoga balls rather than FileMaker.

Three additional films will be released over the next two months.

Technology always seems to be about the newest thing, the latest and greatest. But what fuels those new ventures and ideas are products that long ago proved their value and continue to be strong-a product like FileMaker. Long-time products aren’t glamorous, and a proclamation that “FileMaker gets even better!” isn’t a grabber, and that’s too bad, because the latest version, FileMaker 17, is the best version of a great product line.

New features in FileMaker 17 for advanced developers, server admins

FileMaker 17 ties up loose ends, fills in small gaps, and fixes little problems left over from previous versions. Layout object grouping was introduced a couple of versions ago, but now developers can select and move or reformat individual layout objects in a group without having to ungroup them first. Two ostensibly tiny changes greatly enrich the power of FileMaker’s scripting language: developers can now capture dialog input directly into variables (another reason we hardly need global fields any more) and scripts can be called by name in a variable (which makes generic coding easier). The Send Mail process now supports sending multiple attachments. FileMaker Server has been further optimized to be even more responsive, especially the database is accessed in a web browser or after a disconnect.

It’s always easier for software companies to add new bells and whistles but kudos to FileMaker Inc. for these critically important fixes and improvements.
