Snafu with Verio

SnafuLast week my mail stopped and all email to the domain mclasen stopped working. This is my primary email. I have been in a chat window support twice now with technical support, once on Wednesday and once today. The information I was given on Wed. was evidently wrong and after conferring with them they made another change to my domain email setup to fix the problem.
When one has an Internet-based business it is almost completely dependent on email and connectivity. What is most disturbing is that it works one day and the stops the next, without warning or preparation. Something changed at Verio.com that disrupted current settings and they made no comment when asked about it.
Might be time to find a new host. It is supposed to be fixed over the weekend. I’m crossing my fingers at this point.

Update – my email is beginning to work and is propagating in the next 24-48 hours

Tinkertool

An upgrade to this Utility has just been posted so I wanted to discuss it a little, show some screen grabs and let you have at it
GreetTT

You can modify the Apple settings in Preferences and in the Systems Preferences panes but there are many settings that are not available. Previously, you had to use the terminal or Unix Command line to make many of these changes. With Tinkertool you get it all in a GUI (Graphic User Interface)
GeneralTT

Here are General setting that you can tweak in the Tinkertool General Tab.
SafariTT
Again here are Safari settings
AboutTT

The program is available at
http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html

And there is a way to set all to defaults if you want to revert to original setting
Reset

Great Utility for those who have the need and interest.

12 Hot New Tablets Hitting the Market

At least that is what competitors and IT folks trying to block the iPad are likely saying after Apple’s stunning launch today. Apple is now sneaking into the business. You know you’ve got trouble when the leading software-as-a-service vendor, Salesforce.com, gets on stage supporting a new Apple product (this spiked Salesforce.com’s stock, which will likely drive other business vendors to endorse the iPad) and the CEO says that’s what he is using. With testimonials that include health care providers – which are typically extremely security-focused – it will be nearly impossible to keep this thing out of your shops now.”

Pithy Title but it relates to security issues and the iPad and Filemaker if you read on.
